City Sports 2023

Star of the Sea’s SUPER RUNNERS took part in the annual Cork City Sports event at MTU on Thursday June 1st. With the first run of the day we were off with our boys! Mighty running all round. We were delighted yet again to secure a place in the county final. Ben Divine having won both his heats was down to the last eight boys in Cork at U11 & he gave it socks! Well done Ben on a great run! Michael Butler also stayed true to form and ran two amazing races both in the straight runs and the relays, securing second place in the sprints.

As the day got hotter and crowds got bigger, it was time for round two with our girls and what a performance. Royal Brobbey and Skylar O’Leary showing the U7s how it’s done coming in 1st and 2nd in a very tough category. These two girls are ones to watch in the coming years who get better and better every time they run! We are so proud of you girls!!!! Last but by no means least the might Sophia Nwaedozie, what a talent. Now running with the famous Belgooly club Sophia brings such knowledge and experience to our team. She is a joy to watch and to coach. Both Royal and Sophia cruised into the County Final and missed the medal by the tiniest of margins with both coming in in second place.

Well done to all our amazing runners! Maya, Kamilija, Tija, Rosanna, Sarah, Sophia, Alba, Summer, Daisy, Arianna, Lucy, Ava, Harry, Cillian, Fionn, Michal, Michael, Ben, Mercidi, Tiernan, Ríain, James O’Mahony, Oskar, James O’ Flynn, Diarmuid and Donnacha.
