Since Halloween, First Class has been steadily working on a variety of interesting activities and learning opportunities.
Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to.
Visitors from Spain
We were pleased to welcome two visiting teachers from Spain. During their visit, we held a class on Sustainability, where we demonstrated how to make seed planters using newspaper. It was a chance to share our eco-friendly practices and learn a little about their culture as well. They were very impressed with our gardening skills.
Literacy Liftoff
We’ve been focusing on improving our reading, phonics, and writing skills as part of our Literacy Liftoff programme. Working in small groups, we’ve made steady progress with the support of our SEN teachers, whose help has been invaluable. Thank you all.
GAA and Team Building
In PE, we’ve been learning new skills through GAA lessons and participating in team-building activities. These sessions have been a good mix of exercise and teamwork, helping us to stay active and healthy.
Nativity Performance
One of the highlights of the season was performing the Nativity play for the whole school. We learned lots of new songs and got plenty of exercise walking down and up to the church for rehearsals. All the hard work paid off—our performance was a big success! Everyone said we did a fantastic job, and we were thrilled to see our pictures in The Examiner and The Evening Echo.
Santa’s Visit
To top off all the excitement, we had a Christmas Fair and Santa paid us a visit too! He wished us and our families a very Happy Christmas, and reminded us to keep up the great work in school. He assured us that we were all on the good list!
Looking Ahead
We’re looking forward to more exciting learning adventures in the new year. Thanks to all the children, teachers and families for their support this term.
Best wishes to everyone for 2025 from First Class.
